Project Overview
At Brij Design Studio, we developed the luxury sweet box for RAMAS, bringing structure, illustration, colour, typography and finishing together into one packaging experience.
The challenge was to present the sweets as a premium gift while keeping a clear connection with Indian heritage and festive celebrations.

02
The Brief
Creating a Box Worth Gifting
RAMAS needed packaging that could present its sweets as a premium gifting experience while retaining a connection with Indian heritage and festive celebrations.
Our role at Brij Design Studio was to develop the design of the sweet box around this idea, bringing together the structure, artwork, typography, colour, and finishing details into one cohesive packaging experience.
The objective was not to treat the box simply as a container for the sweets. It needed to feel considered from the outside, create anticipation when opened, and give RAMAS a distinctive visual identity within the premium gifting space.
03
The Design Challenge
Balancing Tradition with a Contemporary Premium Look
For RAMAS, the challenge was to work with familiar Indian visual references without making the packaging feel overly traditional or visually dated.
The Box Packaging Design had to work at two levels: communicate the character of RAMAS from the outside while creating a tactile and engaging experience when the box was opened.
The packaging needed to:
Reflect the richness of Indian gifting and festive occasions
Establish a premium visual character for RAMAS
Incorporate traditional-inspired artwork in a contemporary way
Create a considered opening experience
Bring the structural and graphic elements together as one design
04
Translating Indian Heritage into Design
Traditional References, Reinterpreted for RAMAS
04 · Heritage, reinterpreted
The visual direction drew from Indian decorative traditions, motifs, and festive symbolism.

04 · Heritage, reinterpreted
Rather than using these elements as standalone decoration, we integrated them into the overall packaging composition so that the artwork, typography, and structure felt like parts of the same identity.
The result was a visual language that referenced Indian heritage while keeping the overall presentation refined and contemporary.
05
The Illustration Direction
Creating the Visual Character of the Box
Custom Indian-inspired illustrations became an important part of the packaging artwork.
The illustrations were developed to bring craftsmanship and cultural richness into the design while giving RAMAS something more distinctive than a conventional sweet box treatment.
The artwork works across the box as part of the overall composition rather than functioning simply as a decorative pattern.
06
Colour & Typography
Building a Rich, Festive Visual Palette
We developed the colour direction around rich festive tones paired with metallic accents.
The combination gives the packaging a celebratory character while supporting the premium positioning of the box.
Typography was kept elegant and carefully integrated with the artwork. Rather than competing with the illustrations, it establishes the brand and product information within the overall composition.
Together, the colour and typography create a visual hierarchy that allows the packaging to feel detailed without becoming overwhelming.
07
The Box Structure
Designing the Packaging Around the Gifting Experience
The physical structure was considered alongside the visual design rather than treated as a separate stage.
The box needed to provide protection for the sweets while creating a deliberate opening experience.
The structure, graphics, and finishing details were therefore developed as one packaging solution, allowing the Gift Box Design to feel cohesive from the first interaction through to the opening of the box.

Bringing the Details Together
Where Structure Meets Visual Design
One of the key aspects of the project was ensuring that no single element felt disconnected from the others.
Structure
Creates the physical form and opening experience.
Illustration
Brings the Indian-inspired visual character.
Colour
Establishes a festive and premium mood.
Typography
Creates brand and information hierarchy.
Finishing
Adds the final tactile layer to the experience.
Together, these elements form the RAMAS packaging identity.
09
From Concept to Production
Preparing the Design for the Final Box
Once the visual direction was established, the artwork was developed for commercial production.
This included preparing the packaging graphics and print-ready artwork while considering the application of the selected materials, metallic details, and other finishing requirements.
The objective was to ensure that the final printed box retained the visual detail and premium character established during the design stage.
